Soccer is one of the main sports in St Francis College and our teams have done extremely well in recent times, so much so that Rochestown College is now one of the teams to be feared in Munster Schoolboys soccer. The school is now competing at the top level in all age groups.

In 2009, our first years reached the Munster Final for the first time in the school’s history. This has been followed up in 2010 by winning Munster and a defeat in the All-Ireland Final, and also a Munster Final appearance in 2011.

Our Munster winning team of 2010 also went onto to lift the U14 Cork Schools Cup in 2011.

Recent success has been down to the ability of the College to attract talent from the surrounding clubs of Corrinthians, Avondale, Carrigaline, Douglas Hall, Passage and Springfield in Cobh. In fact, St Francis College is now the school of choice for players from these clubs.

Many of our players represent Cork panels at U13, U14, U15 and U16 level and the College has had some International representation through the years through the likes of David O Leary (U-17 in 2010).

A special mention must be given to “The Academy” set up by Mr.Murray, Mr O Flaherty (former Brighton and Cobh Ramblers player) and Mr.Connick. New coaches have arrived in recent years through Mr.Croke, Mr. Donovan and Mr.Cullen and they have brought their own style to the underage teams in recent seasons. Together, they like to make soccer fun and enjoyable and continue to develop the already exceptional talent in the College.
