 Building More Than Robots

At St Francis College, robotics is about far more than engineering.

It is about curiosity, creativity, teamwork, resilience and problem-solving.

Our students design, build, programme and continually improve competition robots while developing the confidence to tackle real-world challenges.

Every robot tells the story of hundreds of hours of teamwork, determination and innovation.

Why Robotics?

Robotics provides students with opportunities to develop skills that will benefit them in every area of life.

Through robotics our students learn:

  • Critical thinking

  • Coding and programming

  • Engineering design

  • Electronics

  • Project management

  • Communication

  • Leadership

  • Teamwork

  • Public speaking

  • Problem solving

  • Resilience

  • Creativity

These are the very skills that universities and employers increasingly value.

World-Class Achievement

European Success

Our robotics team has become one of Europe's leading VEX Robotics teams.

Following exceptional performances throughout the season, our students earned qualification to compete at the VEX Robotics World Championship in St. Louis, competing against the very best teams from around the world.

This achievement placed St Francis College on the international stage and reflected the remarkable commitment shown by our students throughout the year.

Our success is built not on luck, but on dedication, teamwork and continuous improvement.

More than 2,000 hours of design, testing, coding and refinement went into preparing our robot.

What Students Actually Do

Throughout the Year Students

  • Design robots from the ground up

  • Build mechanical systems

  • Write and test code

  • Analyse competition strategy

  • Work under match pressure

  • Solve technical problems

  • Present their work to judges

  • Support younger members

  • Work as part of a highly organised team

One of the greatest strengths of our programme is that students lead students.

Senior members mentor junior students, passing on knowledge, supporting new team members and developing the next generation of engineers and innovators.

Every student has an important role within the team.

Make the Difference Through Innovation

At St Francis College we believe that education is about preparing young people to make a positive difference in the world.

Robotics allows students to become confident thinkers, creative problem-solvers and compassionate collaborators who are ready to shape the future through innovation, teamwork and perseverance.
